Dark Kingdom Profiles
The Dark Kingdom consists of Queen Metaria, Queen Beryl, and the Four Heavenly Kings Jadeite, Neprhite, Zoisite and Kunzite. Their ultimate objective is to gain the Silver Crystal for their ruler, Queen Metaria.Queen Metaria
Queen Metaria is the ruler of the Dark Kingdom and wanted the power of the Silver Crystal, as well as energy. She came from the sun in a meteor shower and used a woman from Earth, Beryl, in order to materialize her plans. She ordered Beryl to destroy the Moon Kingdom and bring her the power of the Silver Crystal. In return she promised her the planet Earth and the universe. Metaria's plans in the past, however, were ruined by the death of Beryl.
After the failure to take the Silver Crystal, Queen Serenity sealed her deep down underground on Earth. She was finally destroyed by Sailor Moon in the beginning of volume 4, act 13.
Queen Beryl
Queen Beryl is the leader of the Dark Kingdom and serves their ruler, Queen Metaria. Her ultimate objective is to gain the Silver Crystal in order to rule the world. She has various powers, such as being able to strangle people with her long hair and is able to control the power of Metaria. She controls the Four Heavenly Kings, and was put to rest by Sailor Venus in volume 3, act 11.
In the past, Beryl used to live on Earth and fell in love with the prince of the Earth, Endymion. However, Endymion did not see her, but loved the princess of the Moon Kingdom, Serenity.
One day, at the dawn after a strange meteor shower, Beryl found the evil being in the form of Queen Metaria. Metaria promised her that if she would bring her power, destroy the Moon Kingdom and take the power of the Silver Crystal, the Earth and the universe would be hers. Beryl agreed and kneeled before her new ruler.
She rose an army that she attacked the Moon Kingdom with, and stabbed Endymion with her sword as he threw himself before Serenity to protect her. Beryl died with victory within her grasp, as Sailor Venus killed her only moments after.
In the Materials Collection, it is said that she has horns that spring from her shoulders and arms. The holes of her ears are pitch black, and she also has fangs. About her past form, it is said that she always is worried about the interior of the palace, so the back is always a place of total darkness.
Jadeite
Jadeite is one of the Four Heavenly Kings and the Dark Kingdom's commander of the Far Eastern Branch. He is the first of Queen Beryl's minons to appear,
and controlled different monsters (described as dolls of soil by Nephrite) to do the work for him. His mission given by Queen Beryl is to gather energy for their great ruler, as well as find the Silver Crystal. His grave was dug by Sailor Mars when she defeated him in volume 1, act 3.
In the Materials Collection, his estimated age is stated to be 18. He is a typical beautiful person, and he is ruthless and serious. He is about the same height as Zoisite.
Nephrite
Nephrite is the second of Queen Beryl's minions to appear, and he is part of the Four Heavenly Kings. He is the Dark Kingdom's commander of the North American Branch and took over after Jadeite's failure.
His mission is to find the Silver Crystal and used shadows to possess people. In volume 1, act 5, he was killed by Makoto Kino who awakened as Sailor Jupiter.
In the Materials Collection, his estimated age is 19, and it is said that he acts overly proud of himself. He is emotional and intense, and will mostly likely get himself killed right away. He is the second tallest of the Four Heavenly Kings.
Zoisite
Zoisite is the third of Queen Beryl's minions, and he is part of the Four Heavenly Kings as well as the commander of the Dark Kingdom's European Branch. He disguised himself as the Silver Crystal expert, professor Izono, shortly after
Tuxedo Kamen's press announcement. He made the press search for the Silver Crystal, and then used the Tokyo Tower's antennas and TV waves in order to drain the energy from people. However, Sailor Moon rescued the victims using the power of the Moon Stick.
Zoisite's next plan involved a video store where he used videos to brainish people into searching for Sailor Moon, in order to gain the Silver Crystal. His plot failed when he was torn into shreds by Sailor Venus' power.
In the Materials Collection, his estimated age is 16-17 and he is effeminate. He is treated as Kunzite's younger brother, and he uses dirty attack methods. He is about as tall as Jadeite.
Kunzite
Kunzite is the fourth of Queen Beryl's minons, and he is part of the Four Heavenly Kings. He is the commander of the Dark Kingdom's Middle Eastern Branch. In order to gain the Silver Crystal, he created a blackout in the entire city which drew out the sailor soldiers. He welcomed them, and in an attack against Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask was serverly injured protecting her.
Sailor Moon woke the power of the Silver Crystal to life, and it healed everything in its path. Jadeite, Zoisite and Nephrite were brought back to life, as well as the memories of their past lives. Unfortunately, they melted back into the form of stones.
Kunzite then abducted Tuxedo Kamen and brought him to the Dark Kingdom, where Queen Beryl reminded him of his loyality to their great ruler. She commanded him to collect more energy, as well as steal the Silver Crystal. Kunzite was finally defeated by the combined powers of the sailor soldiers in volume 3, act 10.
In the Materials Collection, his estimated age is 25-26 and he is the greatest and the best of the Four Heavenly Kings. He has the air of an Arabian king, and even though he is silent and calm, he is frightening when angry. He carries a sword that is a little bit smaller than prince Endymion's, and he is the tallest of the Four Heavenly Kings.
